Workout of the week #2

workout of the week #2 is 4x5 back squat increasing weight each set starting at 50% of 1 rep max straight into a 90 second spin at 110-115% of FTP. The purpose of this session is to recruit fast twitch muscle fibers and make them work for a longer duration than used to, as well as build up lactic acid during the heavy squat and get the muscle to adapt to cycling movement. The session is race specific to maintaining strong power by the end of the bike, specifically if there is a hill at the end (St. George;)) and improving VO2 max.
